How bad Processing destroys even the top sources of herbs

sources of herbs, Ayurvedic herbs

All the processes the herb goes through after harvesting till packaging is called processing. Processing of the herbs is as important for the quality of the product and the place of origin of the herb.

In Ayurveda, the source of herbs is of utmost importance. Processing includes sorting, cleaning, drying, grinding, and packaging. All these operations are carefully conducted in order to maintain the quality of the product. At Rasayanam, we offer the best quality herbal Ayurvedic products which are processed and handled with utmost care.

How the herb is processed is as important as the source of the herb

All our Ayurvedic herbs are procured from their native places like the Himalayas and dense forests, etc. after that, they are cleaned to get rid of unwanted materials and debris. This is done manually and precisely.

After cleaning, the herbs are sorted on the basis of different characters. The roots are sorted on the basis of old and newly formed. The fruits are sorted on the basis of ripeness. The leaves with any patch are sorted out. Thereafter these parts are dried.

Usually, the roots are sun-dried while the delicate parts like the flowers, leaves, and fruits are dried in shade. Drying takes almost a week. All these processes are done using the traditional methods that have been passed along the generations. The knowledge from the local people is taken into account during processing.

The dried products are then passed on for the grinding process. Grinding of Ayurvedic herbs is done using special grinders made specifically for that herb. All the herbs are grinded to different consistencies. Some herbs are even grinded using stone grinders to preserve their aroma.

The grinded herbs are then sieved using sieves of different diameters depending on the final product. The powdered herbs are then brought to room temperature since grinding heats up the product. This powder undergoes various quality checks and is certified before being packaged.

Some Ayurvedic products are processed differently. For example, the processing of honey is totally different from that of herbs. It is purified after extraction and then undergoes quality checks before packaging. The same is the case with the amla; its different products such as candy, powder, juice, and murabba; all are processed differently.

All these processes are time-consuming and are done with precision since these are going to be used for medicinal purposes. The effectiveness and shelf life of the final product ultimately depend on the quality of processing it undergoes. Rasayanam is very particular about the quality of its products. Our quality is not compromised at any cost.
